Vidar

Vidar is a hydrogen production facility in Holsted, Vejen Municipality. The project will include a 200 MW electrolyser powered by renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen for industrial consumers across Europe, especially to support hard-to-abate sectors in their green transition.

The project is being developed in an area with significant energy-related activity and is located close to Energipark Holsted. This creates opportunities to contribute to the local energy ecosystem, create jobs, and support the local economy.

It will connect to Energinet's future Danish Hydrogen Backbone, enabling hydrogen produced in Holsted to be transported to the Danish-German border and onwards into the emerging European hydrogen network.

Vidar is included in the European Union’s Projects of Common Interest (PCI) framework, recognising its role in the development of cross-border hydrogen infrastructure and its contribution to the EU’s decarbonisation objectives.

The project is currently in development and will be subject to all relevant environmental assessments, planning procedures and permitting requirements before construction can begin.

RWE will engage with local communities, citizens and relevant organisations throughout the development and permitting phases to ensure that local perspectives are considered as the project progresses. Public participation activities will provide opportunities for interested parties to review project information and submit comments.
