Hela

Hela is a hydrogen production facility planned for Idomlund in Holstebro Municipality. The project will include up to 500 MW of electrolyser capacity developed in two phases, consisting of 200 MW and 300 MW respectively.

By linking production in Denmark with demand across Northern Europe, Hela is intended to support the establishment of a European hydrogen infrastructure. Together with infrastructure projects being developed by Energinet and Gasunie, the project will contribute to the expansion of a large-scale European hydrogen network. Among others, this will serve the hard-to-abate sectors in their green transition.

Hela is included in the European Union's Projects of Common Interest (PCI) framework, recognising its role in the development of cross-border hydrogen infrastructure and contribution to the EU’s decarbonisation objectives.

Currently the project is at an early development stage and will be subject to all relevant environmental assessments, planning procedures and permitting requirements before construction can begin.

Engagement with the municipality, local communities and relevant organisations will be an important part of the project's development. Opportunities to participate in consultations and receive project updates will be communicated throughout the planning and permitting process.
