Offshore Wind
RWE is a leading offshore wind developer and operator with more than 20 years of experience and a pipeline spanning five continents.
Welcome to the website of RWE Renewables Denmark (RWE).
We are a global energy company with more than 125 years of history with German roots and an energy portfolio that covers offshore and onshore wind, hydrogen, solar and hydropower.
We perceive Denmark as a major strategic growth market due to Denmark's great potential for renewable energy development. Our own journey in Denmark started with Rødsand Offshore Wind Farm, and these days we are making history with the establishment of Denmark's largest offshore wind farm Thor. We are an active player in the Danish market, and with our two offshore wind projects, our current portfolio in Denmark offer a strong hub for our future activities.
In doing so, we are making a key contribution to Denmark's path towards a green transition, which includes both a renewable energy supply for Danish households and for the launch of a new export adventure of green fuels.
In the summer of 2022, we expanded our presence in Denmark with the opening of our Copenhagen office. We now have more than 100 employees based in Denmark.
Data networks, mobility, industry, infrastructure, businesses, family: We all need energy. Society is facing a major task as a result: meeting a growing need for electricity while protecting the climate. RWE is already one of the leading companies in the field of renewable energy. Between 2024 and 2030, the company will invest €55 billion worldwide in offshore and onshore wind, solar energy, batteries, flexible generation, and hydrogen projects. By the end of the decade, RWE’s green portfolio will grow to more than 65 gigawatts of generation capacity, which will be perfectly complemented by global energy trading.
RWE Supply & Trading provides tailored energy solutions for large customers. Innovative projects such as floating offshore and the use of hydrogen are proceeding apace. RWE has locations in the attractive markets of Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region. The company is responsibly phasing out coal by 2030. RWE employs around 20,000 people worldwide and has a clear target: to get to net zero by 2040. On its way there, the company has set itself ambitious targets for all activities that cause greenhouse gas emissions. The Science Based Targets initiative has confirmed that these emission reduction targets are in line with the Paris Agreement. Very much in the spirit of the company’s purpose:
Our energy for a sustainable life.
